Saint Laurent 2021 Women’s Presentation
March 18, 2026
I'm pretty sure this was done during Covid, when many companies invested heavily in the videos of their collection presentations instead of in-person fashion shows. And I don't know if this was filmed in a studio or on location, but I really don't care. It's a triumph... the grandeur, the scale, the emotion... just excellent. Saint Laurent's next collection also conveyed that same feeling of immensity, but the clothes didn't work quite as well with their set. The mostly black outfits in the above video, however, wonderfully contrast the beige sand dunes, and the moody soundtrack complements the pensive spirit of the cinematography very well too.
The whole effect is fascinating because you honestly feel like you're watching a movie in a theater-- not a fashion show on your laptop. And of all the shows I've ever watched on my screen, this was the first to accomplish that.
