Celebrating Jaguar

October 17, 2026

Well, the newly revamped Jaguar is here. It's been a couple of years since the car brand unveiled its new logotype and promised us a new look for its vehicle lineup.

I'm totally fine with the new direction, because I think you should be able to pursue whatever taste you like. It's a significant change from the styling of its older models, and there are quite a few that I really liked. That's what this post is about. To remember the good designs of the past, since we probably won't see anything like them again. For one, the beautiful grille is now unnecessary since all Jaguars will now be electric. Second, the curved lines and rounded edges on so many past Jaguar models have been replaced by a very angular, sharp approach. Not quite as harsh as other electric cars out there, but enough to make you not have a clue the new Type 01 is made by the same company that made cars like the S and X types. And third, the absence of the jaguar itself. The new branding is minimalistic, with no logo, just a logotype. So no jaguar face on the hubcaps and steering wheel or the magnificent leaping jaguar from the hood. Oh well. Things change!

The cars above are all Jaguar models I’ve enjoyed seeing over the years, both in photographs and occasionally in person. Every now and then, I’ll spot someone driving a '06 XJ or an '07 X-Type here in Atlanta, and I always smile inside. As I wish Jaguar good luck in its new chapter, I’m grateful the internet allows me to revisit its earlier ones. ◡̈

P.S. My apologies if I’ve misidentified any of the models. Please feel free to send me any corrections!
